Many stated the New York Knicks should’ve cleared their depth and traded for All-Star Guard Donovan Mitchell. They also believed the Knicks didn’t have a chance against Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers. But Knicks Twitter is the one on a winning streak, dusting off “Twitter Bookmarks” to let the non-believers know all receipts were kept before the 2023 NBA Playoffs even began.

Tom Thibodeau and the Knicks ousted Cleveland Cavaliers 106-95 on the road Wednesday night, advancing to the 2nd round of the playoffs. Some time later during the night in Milwaukee, a “psychotic” and super clutch Jimmy Butler decided to become the second coming of Michael Jordan & Kobe Bryant while willing the Miami Heat to a gutsy, miraculous, overtime victory, upsetting Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks. Knicks and Heat will face off Sunday at 1pm on ABC at Madison Square Garden. Both fan bases are walking on air, however, on Sunday somebody will be humbled.

Mitchell Robinson Has Been Beyond Special For The Knicks

Mitchell Robinson had a monster close out game in Cleveland. The Knicks center came away with 18-overall rebounds and 11 of those rebounds were on offense. Robinson also scored 13-points on six of nine shooting. The Knicks interior defensive enforcer also had 3-blocks and 2-steals. Upon the beginning of the Knicks/Cavs first round matchup, many felt Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen would be too much for Robinson. That ended up being further from the truth, just like any other negative Knick narrative. Many Cavs began getting hesitant upon entering the paint while Robinson was in the game. Darius Garland and Caris LeVert were bothered by the Knick Center’s overall length. Donovan Mitchell began settling for midrange jumpers and floaters more and more as the series continued.

Donovan Mitchell & Cavs Elimination Has Many Questioning If All-Star Snubbed Jalen Brunson Has Been The Better Player Of The Two Since Last Postseason.

This postseason Jalen Brunson is averaging 24-points to go along with 4.8-assists and 2.2-steals. Donovan Mitchell has averaged 23.2-points to go along with 7.2-assists and 2.0-steals. Both guards put up similar numbers, however, Brunson has eliminated Donovan Mitchell in the first round for the second postseason in a row. The league was already put on notice last postseason when Brunson put the Dallas Mavericks on his back while Luka Dončíc was nursing an injury. All-Star snubbed Knick point guard has had the last laugh as far as NBA All-Star discussers are concerned.

RJ Barrett Has Found Himself and the Timing Couldn’t Have Been Better.

Confidence has found RJ Barrett later in the Knicks/Cavs series and the Knicks welcomed every bit. Barrett began attacking the interior of the best defensive team in the entire league and success followed. RJ Barrett’s three point shot began to fall as well. More free throw attempts came to Barrett due to his increased offensive aggression as well. Ladies and gentleman “Broadway Barrett” has come alive at no better time than right now during the playoffs.

Julius Randle Came Alive Game 5 Against the Cavs However, He Re-Injured Left Ankle.

Julius Randle has a quick turnaround Sunday at 1pm. He’ll be day to day and a game-time decision for Game 1 against a hungry and relentless Miami Heat squad. The number 30 engine will very well be needed against the Jimmy Butler led Heat. The Knicks starting forward hasn’t impressed with his shooting, however, he’ll continue attacking the rim and continue providing other intangibles until his confidence increases as he regains his long range shooting touch and overall rhythm once he’s at least well enough to play basketball.

Overall, the New York Knick fans celebrated wholeheartedly due to the Knicks making it out the first round for the first time in ten years. Some non-believers are coming around to the fact that the Knicks are a very good and deep rostered team built for a long postseason run.
